Chiru's first defeat

Chiranjeevi's party rules out alliance with BJP, TDP

New Delhi: Chiranjeevi's party Praja Rajyam today ruled out any truck with either the BJP or TDP in Andhra Pradesh and the actor himself said CPI(M) is his natural ally unless it ties up with the TDP.
Allu Aravind, who is also the brother-in-law of Chiraneevi, had a 30-minute meeting with CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat and politburo member Sitaram Yechury.

He later told reporters that his party would have no truck with either the BJP or the TDP.
On his first tour of Andhra Pradesh after launching his party, the Telugu superstar said that CPI(M) would be the "most natural ally" of his party.
Asked would this hold good even if the CPI(M) tied up with TDP, he said "No."
To a question whether he seems himself as Chief Minister, he said "I can see. You can better ask the question to the public and they will say yes."
Chiru’s first defeat from film fraternity; loses MAA polls
Chiranjeevi said the people have confidence (in him) and the confidence gave him the strength.
"I have myself declared that if the people wish for separate Telangana nobody can stop it, nobody can a hurdle for the position. The Prajarajyam will not be, too," he said to another question.
Amid indications of a grand alliance involving the Left parties, TDP and Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the state, the CPI(M) is set to take a final decision on the poll tie-up at its three-day Central Committee meeting in Kolkata starting tomorrow.
'Praja Rajyam' launched; Chiranjeevi vows to change Andhra politics
Tirupati: Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi on Tuesday launched his long-awaited political party 'Praja Rajyam'(People's Rule) and vowed to bring a change in Andhra Pradesh's politics as he took the temple town of Tirupati by storm with a mega rally attended by some one million frenzied supporters.
"It will be a democratic and secular party. It will be a people's party, born from the hearts of the people. It will be a party for backward classes, farmers, workers, women and youth," he said amid wild cheering from a mainly male gathering drawn from all over Andhra Pradesh.
"The party will work for development, modernisation and industrial revolution. Its goal will be santosh and ananda (contentment and happiness) Andhra Pradesh," he said, speaking in Telugu.
"I know your problems, pains and sufferings and will always stand by you," he said, while taking the oath in the name of Lord Venkateshwara to dedicate his life to serve the people.
Broadly outlining the policies of his eagerly awaited party, he said that eliminating poverty, ensuring social equality, rooting out corruption, development of villages on par with urban areas, and providing health and education to all would top the agenda.
During the two-hour mega show, the 53-year-old actor said he favoured prohibition but added that his party would take a final decision only after detailed deliberations.
He termed as 'social' the problem of Maoist violence and promised to respect the sentiments for a separate Statehood for the Telangana region.
"After spending 30 years in the glamorous field, I could have lived a life for myself. I have all the comforts in life but I decided to be in your midst by responding to your appeal," said Chiranjeevi, who announced his decision to join politics August 17.
"I am overwhelmed by your support all these years. Now it is time for me to pay back and be in your midst to share your sufferings," said Churu, as he is fondly called, amid thunderous applause.
Chiru, who declared that he had no rivals in politics, took a swipe at the ruling Congress for selling government land to industries and for acquiring cultivable land for Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
"We have no rivals. Problems are our rivals. We have no rivals because we have no fear and greed. We have entered the battlefield but our battle is against problems. Courage and honesty are our two weapons. We have no leader. All are soldiers. I am also one among you," he said
SP leaders meet Chiranjeevi
Hyderabad: Three Samajwadi Party leaders, including Amar Singh, on Sunday met actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi here, triggering speculation about electoral alliance between them.
The SP leaders drove to Praja Rajyam party's office at Jubilee Hills here and spent over an hour with the actor.
Though spokesman of the Paraja Rajyam P Prabhakar described the meeting as a courtesy call, sources in the party said the SP leaders discussed the political situation and contours of alliances at the national and state level.

SP general secretary Singh congratulated Chiranjeevi for launching the party with social justice as its main agenda and said people like him should join politics.
Jayaprada, a popular yesteryear heroine of Telugu cinema, was paired with Chiranjeevi in several films. The Telugu mega star also enjoys good rapport with Amitabh Bachchan and his family.
Emerging from the meeting, Amar Singh, flanked by Jayaprada and Jaya Bachchan, said they had come to wish the actor good luck on his political endeavour.
Amitabh Bachchan also was to come to wish Chiranjeevi. "Since he is out of the country, we have come here to extend our greetings to him. The two families have a long-standing personal relationship," Singh said and dodged all questions about political alliance.

Chintakayala Ravi - Movie Review

Chintakayala Ravi, with its promising and hilarious title, has not stood up to the expectations of the audiences. A predictable storyline, slipshod screenplay and mediocre direction are all about the film. Venky's performance, locales of the US and NTR's special appearance are some of the highlights.
Chintakayala Ravi (Venkatesh) works in a bar named Cyber Wave in New York. He is a head waiter along with his three more friends as waiters. He is all in awe of software engineers coming to that bar as he has also reached the US with the dream of becoming a software pro. But, he became a waiter due to some unavoidable circumstances.
His mother Seshamamba (Lakshmi) tom-toms everybody in her village in Andhra Pradesh that her son is big software engineer in America. Ravi is hit hard with a sentiment – not to cheat his mother. That's why he continues bluffing to her.
Seshamamba gets ready to conduct the marriage of her son with a village girl Lavanya (Mamta Mohandas). This girl in turn asks her childhood buddy Swetha (Anushka) in the US to enquire about Chintakayala Ravi. When Ravi arrives in the village for betrothal, he is subjected to humiliation. What happens later will form the remaining part of the story.
As usual, Venkatesh makes a homely presence on the screen for his family crowds. He has done comedy and sentimental scenes with élan. However, his routine role as middle aged guy in love with or trying to marry a young girl comes as monotony on the lines of his Malliswari.
Anushka does her part well. Mamta Mohandas, who acts in the second lead in the village backdrop, brings some interesting moments for the crowds with a couple of songs with Venky. Lakshmi, the known face for bring a successful screen mother for various big actors like Nagarjuna does it for Venky.
Sunil has no punch in his comedy and the fault lies with the director. Master Bharath, who drew the attention of the audiences after Ready has performed few scenes that could bring a few splits of laughter. Ali's role just sounds like an extension to his Nachmi role in Ramcharan's debut film Chirutha. Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav are wasted, though they alone are generally expected to pull the wagon.
Ajay appears in an insignificant role compared to his recent raking performance in a good number of films. The story lacks freshness. It is a routine stuff that a boy bluffing to his mom and things taking interesting twists in the backdrop of marriage.
Everybody thought this film with a mass and hilarious title Chintakayala Ravi would offer them something special for this Dasara, but the same were dashed, bringing a feel that makes the audience struck between expectation and the delivered output.
Kona’s script and screenplay lacks punch and direction by debutant Yogesh is not up to the mark. But for three songs, of Vishal-Sekhar the other numbers are regular. The background score at the climax and at some interesting scenes is a clean lift from Om Shanti Om.
The major highlight is that the audience can have good glimpse of the beautiful locales of the US. But, the audience doesn't generally go for locations, and they want entertainment, which is weak here.
Verdict: A weak family entertainer

Summary:A 'tender' love story of the lead pair and the love between parents and children.
What's it all about?Balu (Varun Sandesh) is the son of loving parents (Prakash Raj & Jayasudha) who hails from Rajahmundry. His father Vishnumurthy gives him love and nothing else! He joins in a junior college where Swapna (Swetha Prasad), the daughter of a strict father (Ahuti Prasad) and an over-concerned mother (Rajitha) from Gajuwaka (Vishakhapatnam), joins too. Naturally, they fall in love. How did their love get to be known to their families? How did their families react? Does their 'love' stand, or is it just infatuation?
PerformancesCast:Varun Sandesh is just okay. He doesn't have the looks that suit a junior college student. At least, his moustache could have been trimmed off better! Even while the director chooses his friends who're actually in their teens, the hero appears older than his role. Swetha Prasad, on the other hand, carries the right looks for her role, and is at much ease on the screen. She's expressive too and emotes well in various moods of the film. Prakash Raj appears in the role of the hero's father, which is a toned-down, over-caring version of his 'father roles' in Parugu or Nuvve.. Nuvve... or Bommarillu; only here, he provides his son the freedom that was lacking in Bommarillu. Jayasudha again appears on his side, after Bommarillu, and gives controlled performance as the hero's mother ; she's particularly good in the scene where she shares her feelings with Prakash Raj after Varun Sandesh talks aloud and leaves. . Ahuti Prasad is at ease in the role of the heroine's father, and has an interesting characterization. Rajitha is good and natural as the heroine's mother. Brahmanandam appears in a relatively short role as the principal of the junior college, and provides some comedic relief, but has more of a serious role in the film. Rao Ramesh, the grand son of Rao Gopala Rao who shot into fame with the role of a naxalite in Gamyam, delivers the goods as a lecturer with a positive outlook, but his character could have been etched better; it reminds the young professor's role in Chetan Bhagat's popular novel Five Point Someone. Most of the rest of the cast is new, and have done their job appreciably nevertheless. Some of the hero's friends and heroines' friends have a natural instinct in acting and may make it big in future.Technical Departments:The story is wafer-thin, and there's a lot of dragging around in the second half of the film. The screenplay could have been better; the song placement doesn't seem to make much sense, particularly in the second half. The first half is filled mostly with scenes in the college hostel, which are very near to the natural.

The writers and the debutant director should be appreciated for this; the director doesn't seem like a debutant in fact! The taking of the film is good, but it could have been more touching on the whole; the film's first half is particularly good and entertaining. The director should be appreciated for creating interest in the film through the first half and the scenes before the interval, and even using good symbolic shots in the film. The film has faint shades of Suswagatham, Premisthe..., and Juniors. Dialogues are good in parts.
Music by Mickey J. Meyer is good, but songs sound a lot better in the audio than on the screen. The songs are shot beautifully, actually, but are placed randomly. Particularly, the song Okay anEsaa... is totally misplaced. Because of the song placement possibly, the lyrics don't seem to fit well for the songs nEnani, neevani... and Okay anEsaa... on the screen. Visuals by Chota K Naidu are good, particularly in the songs, and one can thoroughly enjoy the locales and the cinematography in the film. The whole movie seems to have been shot in and around Rajahmundry and Vishakhapatnam. Choreography is okay. Editing is crisp. The producer should take care to not be branded for the father-son relation that he seems to emphasize on in all his recent movies. Notable Scenes/Dialogues:

" ...kaLLa venTa neeLLocchElaa navvutundi... (pauses) orEy, avE raavaali... manam teppinchakooDadu!" (Prakash Raj to Varun Sandesh, about Jayasudha)
" konni chEpalaki cheruvu kannaa aquarium better!" (Swetha Prasad, indirectly about her own life)
" chinna paaTaki, marks-ki muDeTTaDam...!" (Swetha Prasad murmurs as her mom asks her marks when the former hums a song as she goes.)
" inTi deepam kadaa ani muddeTTukunTE meesam kaalindani..." (Ahuti Prasad)
The scene where Rao Ramesh explains the difference in people's attitude in different age ranges.
Minor Overlook:
Would a junior college hostel be hosted in the same campus for girls and boys, with both sharing the same mess?
Each of the lead pair count the number of times one thinks of the other, and note it. Surprisingly, it's shown that they go on writing numbers. Is it like you can count once every second you think of the other? No surprise that they come up number as high as 10,000 and 11,000 in a day, or rather, 86,400 seconds!
Heroine's letter to the hero is shown to have tears fallen while writing, thereby smearing the writing here and there, but she's shown to be writing with a ball pen!
Are students given loose papers and allowed pads into the examination room in Intermediate?! Whatever happened to answer booklets!
How come the hero comes up as an engineering topper when he's a Bi.P.C. student in Intermediate? (It's also shown in writing that he's in Bi.P.C.) Even if one could assume he got into Biomedical Engineering or something, there are at least three references to taking four years for the degree and one reference to even a software job after that degree, all while in Intermediate with Bi.P.C. group!
Another overlook comes towards the climax in the form of a question "Do people care...?" (More cannot be revealed without telling some part of the story.)
So, how should parents bring up their children? What does the film try to suggest in this regard?
Bottom Line:Kottha Bangaaru Lokam is a thin story line that reminds of several films of the past in its treatment, with several aspects requiring more care than is shown. While the idea of (yet another) love story in junior college is not appreciable, the film's first half provides ample entertainment towards the youth, like Happy Days that was released just about a year ago, and can make the film a commercially successful venture. On the whole, the film is a youthful entertainer that has some drag, twists and turns towards its journey to the rather different climax.

Nenu Meeku Telusa?

Aditya (Manoj) is suffering from the strange disorder "Recurring Amnesia" and he works in a private company. He gains his memory back slowly each night as he goes to sleep, but his mind gets blank daily after he wakes up. He maintains his daily choirs by using a tape recorder, wherein he records his voice.
Madhumita (Riya) is the vice president of the company and becomes Aditya's girlfriend. Nazar, who actually owns this company, is the uncle of the young man. He knows the real secret behind the hero's mental disorder. When the uncle gets ready to sing the marriage of Aditya and Madhu, suddenly the cops arrive to arrest Aditya. The murdered is none other than his uncle. The investigating officer Anjali (Sneha Ullal) happens to be the college love of Aditya. Now, who is the real culprit behind the murder? Does the hero get back his memory? The rest of the story is dealt with these points.
Manoj is extremely convincing in his histrionics, besides presenting superb dance and stunts sequences. Sneha Ullal is pure eye candy but her hairstyle looks weird and cant emote. Riya looked ravishingly hot and she has the right blend of sex appeal and innocence. Perhaps a spicy number with her set the screen on fire.
The director has come out with an interesting plot but then his concept was not perceived with that kind of drive. Though the presentation is brilliant, the narrative is not absorbing. Script was alright and screenplay was effective but dialogues are weak, music is good but at times it was quite blaring, full marks to cinematography and the graphics department. Editing could have been better during the second half, the costumes and locations were well chosen.
The first half of the film is on a lighter vein, mixed with comedy. But, the second half gets into boredom and series of prolonged flashbacks. The murder angle doesn't create any curiosity. Though the story is novel, director stuffed it so many scenes which have nothing to do with the main story. The chasing scene running about 8 and half minute though very exciting is out of place for the subject.
Though the director announced earlier that the movie would create trend in the Telugu film industry with a topnotch idea, nothing of that sort happened. Though the movie is taken with a lot of quality, the flashback scenes looked blurry and the color theme remains an embarrassment with unnatural colors.
The audiences are given to a feel that the comedy should have been worked in a better way. Despite the presence of two highly seductive heroines, not much has been done about their glamour. Lack of punch in the comedy is a big minus point. This kind of films should be treated with duration of just one and half hour on the lines of a Hollywood flick. Its chances are to some extent bright in multiplex centers and it might not do well in other centers.

It was difficult to play half man-half woman:Aamir Khan

Seasoned actor Aamir Khan, known for portraying versatile characters in films, says playing half male and half female in an ad was one of the most difficult tasks he had ever done.
"It was one of the most difficult tasks to play a male as well as a female in the TaTa Sky ad. But it was a challenge for me and I accepted it. I am very happy with the output," said Aamir who is the brand ambassador of TaTa Sky.
Aamir was speaking at the announcement of TaTa Sky's new interactive feature TaTa Sky + here Tuesday.
Aamir refused to divulge any details about the next ad for TaTa Sky, saying: "You will get to see it whenever it comes. But it will be an interesting one."
On being asked about his favourite programmes on television, Aamir said he prefers to watch various sitcoms, news and documentaries.
"I also watch History Channel because it is very informative. Besides, I also like Takeshi's Castle because it is my daughter's favourite. We really enjoy that programme and the hilarious commentaries by Javed Jaffrey."

Award-winning director Madhur Bhandarkar is upset that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given his next film Fashion an "adults-only" certificate.
"Given the movie's theme, I certainly never expected that the board would give it a 'U' certificate, but I was sure it would receive a U/A certificate," Bhandarkar admitted.
Bhandarkar, who has co-produced the film with UTV Motion Pictures, describes Fashion as his most glamorous film. He roped in Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut, Arjan Bajwa and Mugdha Godse to do the lead roles.
The board members, who saw the movie on Monday in Mumbai, objected to six scenes including Priyanka and Arjan's lovemaking scenes and Priyanka and Kangana's dragging at drugs scenes. The members asked Bhandarkar and his co-producer, Ronnie Screwvala, to delete them from the movie.
As the director refused to delete the scenes, the board has given it an 'A' certificate.
The members refused to be convinced by Bhandarkar's argument that the scenes being objected to are an integral part of the movie and that yanking those off would mean compromising with the realistic depiction of the movie's subject.
"Although we had the option of appealing to the Revising Committee of the board against the Examining Committee's decision, we chose not to do so as that would have taken a lot of time. Besides, there was no knowing what would be the decision of the Board's higher committee," Bhandarkar said.
Fashion, which takes a close look at the other side of the fashion world, is due for release October 29.

sachin breaks lara's record

Sachin Tendulkar says he remembers all his Test centuries as well as dismissals, and the venues where he was dismissed. You can be rest assured that the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali will find a prominent place in his memory as he knocked over the remaining 15 runs to become Test cricket's leading run-getter against Australia.
To play a sport is one thing; to play it well is quite another. But to have the talent to perform your craft better than anyone else on the planet is remains the pinnacle of achievement. Tendulkar notching up the most number of Test runs was inevitable. Since he arrived on the stage, Tendulkar's batsmanship has been unmatched.
He was a frail teenager who was simply born to play the game. From a tough initiation in Pakistan as a 16-year-old, to a match-saving first Test century in England, to a mountain of runs that he piled up against every opposition. In all conditions, against all attacks, against all odds.
"As a child I dreamt of playing for India and dreamt of wearing that cap. And when you wear that, it's a special moment because I'm living my dream," says the once boy wonder, now revered as a modern great.
Tendulkar has truly been the master of his craft in this generation. Great players have come and gone. Some have made bigger scores. Some have had longer runs of success. Some have been perhaps more graceful. Some, maybe more brutal. But there is only one Tendulkar.
His long time contemporary Brian Lara puts it in perspective. "I just stand and admire, and appreciate every time I have the opportunity to talk to him or to meet him. I think our conversations have been cordial, and we are very close in terms of the times we meet."
And Shane Warne has no doubts over who his favourite is. "I did a list of my top 50 players as I wrote my article in The Times, and I just about pencilled him in first."
Now as he approaches the 20th year of his international career, with little left to achieve in the game, the world wonders how much longer he will grace the fields, and some are daring to even ask the unthinkable.
At a recent press conference — Question: "My question is to Sachin, when do you plan to retire?", and pat came the reply: "You are at the wrong press conference."
Sport is never static. A time will come when Tendulkar's records will perhaps be erased. But will the world ever see the likes of him again. Don't hold your breath on that one.
